Our gold-plated copper statues are cast using the lost-wax (cire-perdue) method, a technique used in Nepal for over a thousand years. The process begins with a hand-carved wax model. The wax is encased in clay, fired to melt out the wax, and filled with molten copper alloy. After cooling, the clay is broken away, the metal surface is refined by hand, and gold plating is applied by traditional fire-gilding or electroplating. Each statue depicts a specific deity or bodhisattva with precise iconographic details — the mudra (hand gesture), the posture, the crown, and the facial expression each carry specific meaning within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
